Reflexology Map Reflects The Small Scale Human Anatomy

Looking at a reflexology map, one would be amazed to discover how approximate our hands and feet are to our entire body. It can be considered as a scaled down model of our entire body with the areas even reflecting the actual positioning and accurate scale size of each body part or organ.

To illustrate, the head, brain, sinus and face pressure points are all located on the tips of the fingers and toes. The gums, jaw and teeth are located just below the tips of the finger and toes and the neck and brain stem pressure points are located on the length of the fingers and on the web of the toes. This placement is very apt because it represents the body parts as if it is on an actual human body. Also, it makes the familiarization of pressure points very easy because you already know the pattern of the reflexology chart.

The shoulder tops, chest, lungs, heart and upper back are all represented on the area just below the knuckles of the hands and on the midfoot. This area should remind us of the upper torso of the human body.

Interestingly, pressure points of internal organs such as the liver, pancreas, heart and diaphragm are all located in the inside of the palm or on the soles of the feet as if it is the 'inside' of the body. For instance, the gall bladder's pressure point is located within the entire pressure point of the liver. In human anatomy, the gall bladder is indeed located inside the liver. The point of the solar plexus is also located in the middle of the diaphragm which is also the same positioning in an actual human body.

The entirety of the stomach's pressure points houses the pressure points of these other digestive system organs such as the spleen, adrenal glands, pancreas, kidneys, and appended on the lower part of it is the pressure point of the colon and small intestines.

The lower half of the hands and feet represent the lower back and within its points lays the pressure points for the reproductive organs such as the fallopian tubes, ovary, testicle, groin, prostate glands and uterus. The spinal cord pressure point is located along the side length of the arch of the feet and the length on the side of the thumb from the wrist.

This observation will allow us to have a more effective recall of all the pressure points in the map. When a full foot or hand massage is given it will be as if the entire body is being massaged and relaxed because all of its nerve ending are present on these two extremities. That is what makes reflexology a very effective method of inducing relaxation to its patients. However, reflexologists and patients alike must remember that the session must take place an at least an hour after meals and the patient must be in a comfortable position for she will be subject to a major pressing action.
